Giving

Print Donations

The Library welcomes donations of print materials that support CWSL's curricular and research needs. Small donations are accepted at the Circulation Desk. If the donation consists of a large number of volumes, then please contact Keri Wilkins, Acquisitions and Budget Control Librarian (619-525-1441; kwilkins@cwsl.edu), to discuss whether the Library is able to accept the gift.

The Library accepts gifts with the understanding that they become Library property and may be added to the collection or disposed of at the sole discretion of the Library staff. The IRS requires an independent appraisal if the donor plans to claim a charitable deduction above a certain value. Tax implications of a gift are the responsibility of the donor to investigate. By law the Library, as the recipient of the gift, is prohibited from giving an appraisal or estimate of its value for tax purposes.

The Library will provide a letter to the donor acknowledging the gift accompanied by a list of the titles (with number of volumes) donated. A record of the gift is maintained in Library records for seven years.

For more information please contact Keri Wilkins, Acquisitions and Budget Control Librarian (619) 525-1441 or kwilkins@cwsl.edu),

Monetary Gifts

The Library also welcomes monetary gifts in support of its collection and services. Such gifts, if made by check, should be made out to the California Western School of Law, stating either in the check's memorandum line or accompanying letter that it is intended for the Library. Checks should be sent to Development, California Western School of Law, 225 Cedar St., San Diego, CA 92101.
